Homemade Strawberry Pop-Tarts Recipe

These homemade strawberry Pop-Tarts are a fun and delicious breakfast treat. Flaky pastry filled with sweet strawberry jam and topped with a simple glaze makes them irresistible. Perfect for weekend mornings or as a special snack for kids and adults alike.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 cup strawberry jam
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 –3 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, salt, and sugar.
  3. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gradually add cold water until dough forms, divide in half, and chill 30 mins.
  5. Roll out dough into rectangles, about 1/8 inch thick.
  6. Cut into equal-sized rectangles (about 4x3 inches).
  7. Place 1–2 tsp strawberry jam in the center of half of the rectangles.
  8. Cover with remaining rectangles and press edges with a fork to seal.
  9. Brush tops with beaten egg and poke a few holes for steam.
  10. Bake 20–25 mins or until golden brown, then cool completely.
  11. Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for glaze and drizzle over cooled tarts.

Notes

  • Use thick jam to prevent soggy tarts and chill dough for flakier pastry.
