Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • Pinch of salt

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract.
  3. Spread apple mixture evenly in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, combine oats, flour, granulated sugar, salt, and cubed butter until crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle oat mixture evenly over apples.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes or until topping is golden and apples are tender.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a balanced sweetness, and serve with ice cream or whipped cream for added richness.
